Ian and I picked out our new outdoor patio furniture and the 6 chairs came in a huge adventurous box! The girls spent the afternoon giggling and playing inside the "mansion" while Ian assembled the furniture and I worked on my tan while watching the girls have a blast!
"Wow! I could get lost in here!"
I couldn't get all three of them to get in a picture together, they were just too excited over the big box!
Yep, just give them a box full of packing paper and they are all smiles! It really is the little things in life that end up being the best!
Rolling around in the box.
"Hello!" Echo echo echo.....
Goofballs!
We went to the first carnival of the season in our area this past Friday! The kids just love carnivals! It was pretty crowded since the weather was perfect, it was Friday and it was the first carnival to come to the area. So the girls had just enough time to take a ride on the Ferris Wheel with their Nanni (Ian's mom) and Ian's Aunt Patty and then Akela and Zoe headed over to the crazy house maze! Zoe was such a sweetheart helping Akela pass over the scary jumping bridge hand in hand! Ian and his Aunt Patty went for cotton candy and funnel cake and waited forever in line! Thank you Aunt Patty for the cotton candy!!!!
After the rides we all headed over to see the fireworks! Because of Sonya's OI, we have to be really careful about her hearing and the tiny bones in her ears. Loud gunshots, fireworks and pounding music can cause vibrations in her middle ear and break those fragile bones and cause severe hearing loss. While digging around my dad's garage the other week I came across some ear muffs that he would use when he went to shoot his guns at target practice. They came in handy for Sonya at the fireworks show and blocked out most of the incredibly loud booms! We plan on talking to her doctor about some custom ear plugs to use in combination with the ear muffs since there will be many more fireworks shows this summer and in her lifetime!
Yum! Sonya enjoys some tasty ice cream as she watches the fireworks!
Haha! Her mouth is completely full of ice cream in this shot!
"Do you think these ear muffs make me look like Princess Leia?"
Zoe loved all the crackling and whistling fireworks!
Akela loved all the blue fireworks!
We had a great Memorial Day weekend and hope that all of you did too!

Your girls are just so cute! I love how you have them all dressed with matching colors/outfits. The only time that happens in my house is by fluke!lol Seriously, those big boxes are awesome! Cute pictures of them playing in it. I love the pic with Sonya and a full mouth of ice cream!!! Too cute! I hope you can find some earplugs that will be useful for Sonya. I never thought about the tiny bones in the ears being affected by the OI. Wow!
That big box looks like the greatest toy ever!! (and a chance to work on your tan - priceless!!) Love the girls' adorable flower hairbows too! Great idea about the ear muffs for Sonya, I didn't even think about how fragile her ear bones could be.
I loved the pictures from the fireworks. It looks like you had a wonderful weekend! I am looking forward to seeing how you and the girls spend the summer. :)
I loved Sonya and the ear muffs. That is something I never thought of. I hope are able to find some custom ear plugs.
What is it with kids and boxes? I loved the pics! And the pic of Sonya with her mouth full of icecream is priceless. Sounds like you all had a "blast"!!!! (Sorry, couldn't resist)
The box pictures reminded me of Kylie's 1st birthday and my MIL got her this awesome Litlle Tykes playhouse for the backyard, she played in the box the whole time we were putting the house together and only stopped playing in box when we took it away!
Love all the pics, the girls are too cute - as always. Good idea with the mufflers for Sonya (ears hadn't even occurred to me as being an issue), hopefully that'll allow her to enjoy the pretty fireworks all summer long!
We still have the box from Trace's John Deere Awnmower in the dining room, with windows cut out in the sides! Love the pictures, and a great fireworks shot! Score on the ear muff for the fireworks! I'm sure you could get earplugs like the ones Trace has from his audiologist for when he goes swimming, they are custom fitted out of rubber-like stuff that hardens. Yummy, funnel cakes and cotton candy! I might have to make a solo trip over to the scary travelling carnival in Salem (that I won't even let my kids know about becuase it is just too dangerous looking) for some carni-food!
I absolutely adore the way you dress the girls. They always looks so beautiful! And they are gorgeous to boot! I loved playing in big boxes as a kid-so much fun. Making forts out of blankets was also a big hit. It sounds like the carnival was a huge hit! I love carnival food. Especially fried dough! Yum!
I also had no idea about the bones in Sonya's ears. You really are so informed and I love learning about this with you. I think the ear muffs were a great idea!
My boys love playing in boxes too! When we re did our bathroom i took the big box from the tub & cut doors & windows in it & colored it to make it look like a lil house, Ethan loved it! it was great!
Adorable pictures of your beautiful girls!! I just love the way you dress them!
Simon loves boxes too, and he keeps pointing at Sonya in the box and "telling" me that he wants to go play in the box with her and her sisters! :)
How fun - first festival of the season! I love the picture of Sonya with her mouth full of ice-cream - my kind of gal! That is great that your dad's ear muff things worked so well for her during the fireworks!
A box what fun?! Who needs Fisher Price? My dad used to big home big boxes from work when we were little and it was great fun! I still remember making houses out of them. Adroable pictures of the girls!
